lightening speed. We schedule our tweets, monitor multiple accounts and
are plugged in through our iphones and blackberries. But for many
others the wild world of social networking can be so fast and daunting
that they just don’t know where to begin. “The journey of a thousand
miles begins with a single step” and so we begin.

The very first step (in my humble opinion) is to create an account on Facebook.

1. Go to www.Facebook.com

2. Sign-Up: enter your name and email and choose a password

3. When it asks you to “Check your email for friends” click OK –
Facebook won’t store your password, all it does is check the emails in
your address book against the Facebook database to let you know if any
of your contacts have an account on Facebook.

4. Select the people in your contacts that are on Facebook that you
want to be connected with. If you don’t want your Aunt Mildred to know
you’re on Facebook then don’t select her.

5. Once this is done you will be prompted to update your profile.
Make sure your name is spelled correctly, that you choose the
appropriate city that you live in and that you have a clear picture of
your face for your profile. This will help people to identify you.

6. As people confirm you as a friend you will be able to see their
profiles, their pictures, and their status updates. This allows you to
keep in touch with old friends and contacts very easily.

Now you can sit back and enjoy reconnecting and the feeling of
community. And don’t stress, I’ll cover some of the finer points of
Facebook, plus Twitter, Youtube, Delicious etc etc in subsequent blogs,
for tonight just give yourself a pat on the back – you have taken your
first steps into the world of social networking.

We are excited to announce some pretty big and exciting changes over here at ID Creative. We have relocated to San Diego, CA, but don't worry we are still working closely with our Tucson clients and meeting new ones every day. We are also re-branding from ID Creative Studio to Gryphon Creative, which is a bold and challenging transition but one which we have looked forward to for a long time. This blog provides more information on our recent move, what this means for you and your business and some insight into our decision to re-brand. Thanks for being a part of our Creative family.

Id Creatie Studio Re-brands

After much thorough, planning, brainstorming, and sketching .... Id Creative Studio decides to re-brand as part of it's relocation. The decision to re-brand your business is never one to be taken lightly. Re-branding, especially when it involves a change in the business identity is risky, and can be very disconcerting to existing clients. We bought GryphonCreative.com and completed the DBA paperwork over two years ago, but it was only now, in conjunction with the move to a new city, that we felt the time was right.

We feel strongly that the name Gryphon Creative is more unique and better represents us as a design firm than ID Creative Studio. Gryphon gave us the opportunity to develop a very strong, and distinctive logo, which we feel is paramount because we specialize in business identity and logo design. We are fortunate enough to work closely with our current and past clients to which we feel comfortable explaining our decision to re-brand and we are setting up shop in a new city who will know us only as Gryphon Creative. The combination of all of these factors led us to this choice and we are looking forward to a bright future.

Sunny San Diego

Id Creaive Studio, now Gryphon Creative relocated headquarters to sunny San Diego, CA on September 20th, 2009. What does this mean for our Tucson Clients? It means that although we may not have the opportunity to meet face to face quite as often, we are still just an email or a phone call away. Our clients remain our top priority and we are always here to help you whenever you need it.
Our phone number will remain the same, as will our email and website address so you never have to worry about being out of touch. What does the move mean to everyone else? It's pretty much "business as usual" for clients in MA, LA, NJ, AZ, & TX. The only thing you need to update is our mailing address: 1042 24th St. Unit A, San Diego, CA 92102.

It's 12:30am on our third Friday night in San Diego and I am at my computer working on our website. Why? Because it needed to be done, and when you are working for yourself there is no one else to do it. We needed to update our portfolio, incorporate our social network accounts, clean up our language and give everything a good going over. And after some beer and pizza and late hours we are finally coming close. The images in the portfolio gallery and slide-shows still need to be tagged and we need to keep polishing our SEO for San Diego but all in all not a bad night's work.

There are some times (like late on a Friday night when all your friends are out doing something cool) when I think it would be nicer to work for someone else. Let someone else worry about finding clients, manning the phones and the last-minute fixes. To collect a check every Friday and head off to happy-hour with the gang. To not feel like every moment not spent working on a client project needs to be spent on promoting ID Creative. To not feel like I need to network everywhere I go (swear to god, I brought my business cards to a bridal shower 2 weekends ago), to shut my brain off once in a while.

But then Monday morning comes around, and I watch everyone else get in their cars and head to their offices, cubicles, and sales counters and I go to the beach with my iPhone to read my emails, make my phone calls and plan for the week...and that makes it all worth it. I'm a small business owner, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Id Creative Studio got it's start in Stephanie's home town of Tucson, Arizona in early 2005. After being Creative Director at Red Bus Marketing and Commotion Studios, it was time to start her own studio. Stephanie paired with Kate Smithyman. Her background in marketing, media and client relations was a perfect compliment to Stephanie's graphic design, animation, web, illustration and management skills. Id Creative Studio work was recognized and celebrated at the Addy awards where they claimed multiple gold and silver Addys for the studio's work over the years.
This year, the studio duo decided to expand the company to a coastal front. In October of 2009 Id Creative Studio will be designing from the beach in San Diego's Pacific Beach coast side. San Diego offers a new area of energetic young entrepreneurs and passionate business executives. The studio's young and energetic style will be a perfect fit for the California business scene where Id Creative Studio hopes to offer some fresh new talent with a focused business design perspective.
"Tucson has been my home and will always be, and we love to explore new territory, meet new people and have amazing adventures. San Diego is the next step for our creative design firm and fine art development. We look forward to meeting new people and networking with new businesses while we maintain existing client projects and help to nurture their continued business success. Branding and Graphic Design is my passion, I continually strive to make the world a better place through my design and art and hope that as my artistic journey continues that I meet like minded people looking to do the same." States Stephanie "We love to explore and share, so make sure to check out our favorites from our trips and local favs of the Tucson and San Diego scenes."

There are days when designing for clients can feel like just a job and others where it can feel like a creative fine art project. Most days designing falls in the middle for me. It is a process as much as a product. It is an exploration of new ideas, new people and new products. I learn something new everyday I design, whether it is a new design or web technique or new people and new ideas. I design because I love to communicate. Visual communication is an exploration of universal communication, when at is simplest purest form, touches the viewer and speaks to them.

I strive to meet and work with clients that see graphic design as more than just a business card, or a website and a tool, but rather as a process to get to work with a stranger that provides a new and unique perspective to their story. That helps them define their story, their style and then in turn communicates that energy with a larger audience. Design is a business tool that will help grow a business and establish a brand, but it should have more personality and soul than just a piece of paper.

Today I am starting a blog exploration of things that inspire me, that invigorate me or that turn me off. My design is a personal expression of myself, my passion and intimate study of the clients that I get the opportunity to work with. Sometimes it surprises me that people don't understand and see design the way that I do. I hope that by sharing my thoughts and process with you that you may grow to appreciate and even love design and art the way I do. Please chime in and give feedback along the way!

Thanks! Steph
